AUSTRALIA

July, 3 weeks
2nd Semester

PROGRAM DESCRIPTION
Australia provides a perfect setting for the discussion of inter-
organizational trade issues today related to import/export
management and new venture development due to the
sheer distance between the continent and the rest of the
world. The biggest attraction in Australia is its natural beauty,
from the exquisite beaches to the impeccable landscape. The
landscape deviates from dry to tropical rain forest to all the
beaches. Australia takes pride in its diversity when it comes
to wild animal life. Australia also allows for experiencing many
cultural events. This is enhanced by the many Universities in
Australia that are internationally recognized.

Australia boasts a prosperous Western-style capitalist
economy, with a per capita GDP at the level of the four dominant
West European economies. Yet the people speak very
differently, and even Death Valley is only a small area compared
to the deserts in Australia. As the statistics show, there
are fourteen times as many people in the USA in almost the
same area. The host city -- Brisbane -- is sub-tropical with a
population of 1.5 million. Just south of Brisbane is the Gold
Coast. We will also visit Sydney, 1,000 miles south, with its
famous harbor and a great many other attractions. It is
Australia's largest and oldest city, with a population in excess
of four million.
