CHINA

3 Weeks/May

PROGRAM DESCRIPTION
Students will travel to Beijing, Shanghai, and Qingdao, China to learn firsthand about the Chinese culture that is shaping one of
the fastest growing economies in the world. The program is open to all majors. No prior training in Chinese language is required. Students successfully completing the program will earn three hours of credit from The University of Alabama in either Multinational Business Communication: F
ocus China IBA 351 or Special Topics of China and Chinese CHI 353.

Prior to departure, students will read extensively on topics concerning Chinese communication, culture, and commerce. Then
you have the unique opportunity to visit China where you will develop communication skills, make visits to historical significant sites, major corporations, attend lectures by Chinese professors and subject matter experts as well as be involved in
everyday Chinese life. Interaction with students from Ocean University of China will provide an exciting opportunity for a better understanding of Chinese life and developing contacts within China.

Students planning to use financial aid to fund their overseas study should contact Vickey Phillips (vickey.phillips@ua.edu, 205-348-8760, 135 B.B. Comer Hall) for a financial aid letter which details the cost of the program and estimates expenses not included in the program. Students should take the letter to Financial Aid and meet with a counselor. If Financial Aid determines an award will be made, they will prepare an Anticipated Aid form for you. Please bring this form to CIAP. Please remember to include your CWID and name of program on the form.
