GUATEMALA

3 Weeks in June

General Information

The University of Alabama is pleased to announce a new summer
program to the heart of Central America that will focus on Spanish
and Service Learning with an international focus. Students will spend one month in the Quetzaltenago, Guatemala, or Xela as it is commonly called, which is located in the beautiful Western Highlands.

Guatemala is famous for its vibrant colors and smiling faces, its dramatic, volcano-punctuated landscapes, and its dynamic history that ranges from its ancient Mayan civilizations to the era of Spanish Colonialism to the cross-cultural hybrid that is modern day Guatemala.

The program is open to undergraduate and graduate students, by
arrangement, who are registered at any two-year or four-year institution in the United States, and to other qualified persons.

Students planning to use financial aid to fund their overseas study should contact Vickey Phillips (vickey.phillips@ua.edu, 205-348-8760, 135 B.B. Comer Hall) for a financial aid letter which details the cost of the program and estimates expenses not included in the program. Students should take the letter to Financial Aid and meet with a counselor. If Financial Aid determines an award will be made, they will prepare an Anticipated Aid form for you. Please bring this form to CIAP. Please remember to include your CWID and name of program on the form.

Capstone International has program scholarships available based on need and merit. Click here or visit 135 B.B. Comer for an application.
