Student Conduct

As a University of Alabama student, you have the unique opportunity and responsibility of acting as a university diplomat. It is expected that while you are abroad you will represent the Capstone as one of our “Best and Brightest.” This means conducting yourself in a mature manner and immersing yourself in the host culture with dignity and respect.By doing so, you will learn and share your own culture in a positive way.

While overseas, you are expected to follow your host university’s/program’s expectations of conduct and are still held accountable to the UA Student Code of Conduct.

Key points from the code that you should be aware of:

  1. In consideration of the UA Honor Code, it is not acceptable for you to turn in the same paper for two classes without permission from your instructors.
  2. If you are drinking alcohol under the age of 21 and/ or partaking in illegal drugs on or off campus (including other states and/or countries), and the University is made aware of the incident, you may be in violation of policies.
  3. If you are engaged in any illegal activity off campus, including the possession of a false identification, you may be in violation of UA policies.
  4. You may not engage in any sexual activity with another person without their verbal consent and/or action that explicitly implies their consent. In addition, a person must be in the mental capacity to give such consent, and may be without such capacity due to the influence of alcohol and/or other drugs. Finally, even if you do initially receive effective consent from another person, they have the right to revoke this consent at any point during an activity.

Please review the code in its entirety and be prepared to answer questions about it at your pre-departure orientation.
