Faculty-led Programs
Faculty-led programs are led by UA faculty, professors, and instructors from specific departments at UA. All courses taken abroad are UA courses with credit coming from the hosting department. Students will travel as a group, taking classes with UA faculty either on host university campuses or while traveling to various sites.
The Faculty-led general application allows students to go ahead and apply to the summer faculty-led programs and let’s the faculty-led directors know that students are really interested in their programs. You can find that application here!

- You must know a foreign language to study abroad – not true, we encourage students to learn key words and phrases but fluency in a foreign language is not required.
- Only certain majors can study abroad – not true, while certain majors require more research to find the best program for your degree plan it is possible to study abroad with a “hard major”. Sometimes there are electives, core requirements, and minor courses that you can fulfill abroad too.
- I can only study abroad in summer – not true, there are programs that are full semester. Education Abroad has programs as short as ten days to as long as a year. If you’re worried about getting off track by studying abroad in a semester you can verify that the courses you are taking abroad will keep you on track before going abroad so that you stay on track toward graduation. The earlier you start, the more options you’ll have.
- Studying abroad is too expensive – not any more expensive than a regular semester at UA. We have programs at cost, or even cheaper, ask us about it, or come to our Money Matters workshop on Wednesdays at 2:30pm to learn how to best fund your abroad experience! HINT: We have SCHOLARSHIPS.
