Incorporated as a community organization in 1972, Tuscaloosa International Friends (TIF) is a community organization dedicated to providing opportunities for international visitors to learn more about life in the United States and for local residents to learn more about other cultures. TIF sponsors picnics, dinners, parties, and a friendship family program.
FOR INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS WHO WOULD LIKE A FRIENDSHIP FAMILY
A Friendship Family is a local family who will be available to help you learn more about American culture and life in Tuscaloosa. Additionally, partnering with a Friendship Family is a chance for you to share your culture and customs with American families in Tuscaloosa. To request to be paired with a Friendship Family, please complete the Online TIF Student Form (also available as a downloadable PDF Form or a Word Document which can be returned to International Student & Scholar Services in 105 BB Comer Hall or at firstname.lastname@example.org).
FOR TUSCALOOOSA FAMILIES WHO WISH TO JOIN TIF AND HOST STUDENTS
If you wish to host an international student for an academic year, please complete the Online TIF Friendship Family Application Form (also available as a downloadable PDF Form or a Word Document) at your earliest convenience to Ann Brooks at email@example.com or Catanya Stager at firstname.lastname@example.org or mail to: Tuscaloosa’s International Friends, P.O. Box 21302, Tuscaloosa, AL 35402. The information you provide in the form will assist TIF in determining the best “Friendship Family” match for you and our visiting international students. You will be paired with a new student for his/her first academic year.
