Welcome to the English Language Institute!
How can I apply?
You can come to the office and complete an application form. Bring your passport when you come. (You must be 17 or older to apply.)
The office is on the University of Alabama (UA) campus at 101 B.B. Comer Hall, located near the Ferguson Student Center. You can park in the Ferguson Center Parking Deck, 800 Campus Drive East. You can visit the UA Campus Map webpage to see the location of the parking deck and B.B. Comer Hall.
If you cannot come to campus, you can complete an online application form. You need to provide a copy of your passport ID page. You do not need to include financial documents.
What happens next?
- When you apply, you will pay an application fee of $75.
- We will process your application and collect a $250 tuition deposit. The $250 is applied to the cost of the class(es) you take.
- We will give you some English tests on the testing day of the next session.
- You will register for classes.
- You will start classes and begin to improve your English!

Speaking/Listening: Monday – Friday, 11:00 – 12:00 (noon)
Structure (Grammar): Monday, Wednesday 1:00 – 1:50; Tuesday, Thursday 1:00 – 2:15 pm
