Undergraduate Scholarships

Students wishing to use their existing undergraduate scholarships toward a study abroad program should consult:

The applicability of scholarships is determined by the Office of Undergraduate Scholarships.Programs must be credit-bearing and affiliated with The University of Alabama. Applicability is based on:

  1. Type of scholarship (i.e. tuition only, tuition + stipend, etc.)
  2. Type of program (i.e. faculty-led, exchange, affiliate, etc.)
  3. Payment process (billed through UA or outside entity)
  4. Number of credit hours being attempted

In order to request that existing undergraduate scholarships go toward a study abroad program, students must complete the “Scholarship for Study Abroad Request.”

  1. Log in to mybama
  2. Search for “Scholarship for Study Abroad Request Form
  3. Complete the form (see below for an example) and click submit

The Office of Undergraduate Scholarships will be notified of your request. Submission of this request does not guarantee that these funds will be granted. If you would like to confirm the approval of your request and/or receive detailed information regarding the amount you will receive, please contact the Office of Undergraduate Scholarships after submitting a request form.

National Merit –Study Abroad Stipend

Students who receive the National Merit Scholarship can also request to use the one-time $2,000 stipend for study abroad. Students must complete the “Stipend Allowance Request.”

    2. Search “Stipend Allowance Request” 
    3. Complete the form (see below for an example) and click submit
