UA Admission

New undergraduate students who want to graduate from UA should apply for the ELI’s Pathway to UA program on the ELI website. You will take ELI classes and UA classes at the same time, and you will earn UA credit.

New students who want a short experience should apply for Semester Abroad at UA on the ELI website. You will take ELI classes and UA classes at the same time, and you will earn UA credit. Please note that your university needs to have an exchange agreement (MOU) with the ELI to participate in the Semester Abroad at UA program.

  • Current ELI students may be eligible for the Pathway to UA.
  • Students in Levels 4, 5 and 6 might be able to visit one UA class with permission from the professor.
  • Yes. If you meet the academic qualifications for admission, but you do not have your iBT or IELTS score yet, you can apply for conditional admission (undergraduate or graduate).

    Conditional admission means that you study at ELI until you have finished UA’s English requirement for international students.

    ELI proficiency certificate – Completion of ELI Level 6 with a 2.0 GPA (undergraduate) or 3.0 GPA (graduate) in Levels 4, 5 and 6. Please note that most, but not all, departments accept the ELI proficiency certificate to graduate programs.

    Most UA undergraduate scholarships are for first time freshman who are superior students. You must finish the both the UA application process and scholarship application by March 1 (5 months prior to the start of the academic year, which is in August). If you apply for the scholarship for first time freshmen, you must include an ACT or SAT score and have a cumulative high school GPA of 3.0.

    Yes. Fellowships and teaching/research assistantships are available to superior graduate students. In most cases the fellowships and assistantships provide full tuition, health insurance and a generous stipend.

    To apply, you must first be admitted to the UA Graduate School and to a graduate degree program within the University.
