Transient Students (Non-UA Students)
Non-UA students are welcome to participate in UA Faculty-Led Study Abroad Programs. To apply, transient students will follow the instructions below in the order given.
1. Transient students will Login with Portal Account (non-UA), not with a CWID. Once transient students complete and submit their application, they are encouraged to reach out to their Faculty Director and/or Education Abroad for additional information. The instructions are as follows:
- Apply to The University of Alabama as a transient student by accessing and completing the UA Undergraduate Admissions Application online (https://gobama.ua.edu/apply/). Please do a transient application, and list Main Campus under the “Program Information” section.
- Pay the application fee to complete the first step of the admissions application.
- Once processed by the Admissions office, transient students will be asked to submit a letter of good standing and an official transcript from their home university.
- If accepted, transient students will receive their UA Campus Wide ID# (CWID) and a ‘@crimson.ua.edu’ email. Transient students need to keep this information handy for upcoming payments and registration.
2. Complete the UA Transient Student Study Abroad Approval Form, have it signed by their home Study Abroad office (or a Home University Official), and email a scanned copy to studyabroad@ua.edu. This form is the only additional thing needed to complete their admissions application and must be signed by their Study Abroad Office or a Home University Official.
Once the study abroad application status changes to “UA Endorsed,” transient students can begin making payments towards your program (payment instructions are included in the application). We encourage transient students to communicate their transient application status with the Faculty Director of their desired faculty-led program.
